It takes a village to raise a child, as Aristotle pointed out. What does it take when there is a problem threatening the village? It takes passionate people that have a unique perspective. The Samantha Day Community Foundation is invested in the ‘village’ and the people that others are quick to walk by.
Getting to know the founder, Heather Henry, has shown me that “Only God Can Change Me” has a heartbeat beyond the stage. The way the stage opens up into reality is not just the story I am telling. It is the fact that there is work to do, and Solomonrain Presents wants to help bring awareness, but also funds to a worthy cause.
Samantha Day Community Foundation is the right partnership because they are working with the people that this play represents. ‘Hope’ is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.” We collectively desire for families to be whole, healthy, and for the broken (whether addict or not) to be healed and begin healing others—with their story and their willingness to set a better example by giving back. There are many ways to do this, and we don’t want to limit them, so we help the Samantha Day Community Foundation do their great work.
